My story started in 2016. I started asking the bigger questions to life. I began searching for answers in spirituality. I looked into many different backgrounds, but all of this was deception leading me away from the truth.

One day I was sitting at the beach on the Sunshine Coast, and a guy asked me if I believed in God. My response was, I believe in something, but I’m not sure what. He invited me to church and I went along to two meetings. The week prior to meeting this guy I had prayer asking for help from God. I believed in a God, but just not the bible God. Then I moved up to Townsville where I went to a couple more meetings with the Jehovah Witnesses but I stopped attending the meetings because there was nothing special about the church or anything that convinced me that it was real. Although I did keep reading the bible they gave me.

A few months after this I came across an article on Facebook. A guy had commented on the article and what he said prompted me to talk to him. So, I messaged the guy and he soon told me that he was a Christian and he mentioned to me about speaking in tongues and the Holy Spirit. The conversation was brief and that was the last I had heard of it. To me it was just another thing to hear about and didn’t think much of it at the time, only that I hadn’t heard of it before.

A couple of months later my car broke down and the whole week prior to this I had been praying to God about just wanting to know the point of life and what was the truth to it all. Then, after work one day I was walking past two men, brother Richard and Pastor Chris. The only reason I walked past them is because my car had broken down. They were handing out pamphlets for the church and Richard asked me to take one. So, I stopped and said what is it about? He said, it’s about receiving Gods Holy Spirit with the bible evidence of speaking in tongues. My ears pricked, because I had heard of this before. I asked him, do you guys speak in tongues, he said yes, we do. I said I wanted to see it, so he invited me to church the next day.

When I attended the church service, during the service they had what is called spiritual voice gifts. This is where Gods speaks through people in the church to relay a message to his people of things that he wants them to hear. I wasn’t sure if I was convinced at first but a sister told me about her experience in the gifts which provoked me to believe there might be something legit about this. Not only that, I thought there must be a reason why the two times I had genuinely prayed to God, I was lead to a church. So, I got baptised that day and I felt like a weight had lifted off of me. I then read the bible every day, since faith comes by hearing the word of God. Then two and a half weeks later I was praying. At this point I had just realised how much Jesus loves us. God then gave me visions and a healing with an undeniable experience that I will never forget. I was literally in the light and love of God and I felt one with Jesus and God. That experience was enough to convince me that God was real, and his word was true. Five and a half months later I received his Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues. 

Praise the Lord for calling me out, and choosing me to be one of his children. Amen
